On April 20, 1956 Red Aurbach traded Ed Macauley and Cliff Hagen to St. Louis for the Hawks first round draft pick who ended up being Bill Russell.



The Chicago Bulls have never won a playoff game against the Celtics. Boston is currently 10-0 versus the Bulls in three playoff series.



The Parquet floor was built for around $11,000 by a Brookline man named DiNatale in 1946.



Boston won the NBA Championship in every year during the 60s except 1967.



Red Auerbach using a rule that would later be eliminated, drafted Larry Bird as a junior eligible in the 78 draft 6th pick overall. Five other teams had a shot at Bird, and passed.



When announcer Johnny most got very excited during a game, he was said to go into a "dog whistle voice". Only true Celtic fans were said to be able to understand him during this time.



The Dallas Mavericks are the only current NBA team never to have won at the Boston Garden.



Boston once won 13 straight regular-season road games (1964-65 season).



There are 988 bolts in the parquet floor



Robert Parish got his nickname "Chief" from teammate Cedric Maxwell. The nickname was inspired by the character Chief Bromden from the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.



Bill Russell had 51 Rebounds against Syracuse on February 5, 1960



The 85-86 Boston Celtics only lost 1 home game all season, still a NBA record for home court mastery.



Bill Russell and Larry Bird are 2 of 3 NBA players to receive 3 consecutive MVP awards



Generations of Celtics fans used to turn down the sound on the TV during a Celtics game, and turn up Johnny Most's radio broadcast.



Kevin McHale appeared as himself in 2 episodes in the TV sitcom Cheers



The Celtics and Lakers have met for the NBA Championship 10 times, with Boston victorious eight times.



When Auerbach became coach, he had Boston players wearing black sneakers when the rest of the NBA was wearing white. Red's reason was simple enough, white sneakers got dirty, and Red was not about to have the team buy new sneakers every time the others got dirty.



In 1979, Red Auerbach came dangerously close to leaving the Celtics organization, mainly due to conflicts with team owner John Y Brown. In fact Red was all set to take over as the New York Knicks president of basketball operations ... As Auerbach was about to leave for New York, a cab driver taking him to the airport convinced him his loyalties remained in Boston. Thanks buddy!

My favorite player is Antoine Walker. I can't lie. I just love his style of play. My dad drove him one day and he told Antoine that he would reunite with his coach in college Rick Pitino. Guess what? Rick Pitino is his coach now making the Celtics a better team everyday. Antoine Walker if you see this please e-mail me I would love to hear from you again. THANKS!
